Welcome guests to the Ronning lab
Dr. Jared Anderson (Iowa State) and Dr. Steve Sucheck (University of Toledo) visited the Ronning lab. Dr. Paul Trippier joined the three of us for a drink at Ooh De Lally in Dundee. It was fun evening.
Ronning introduces the lab to mini golf
This spring’s lab outing was mini golf and sushi. Rajashree is a natural. Having never played and battling a huge deficit after my hole-in-one on the first hole, she made an epic comeback an missed winning by only 1 stroke. Well played Rajashree! The rest of the group had a great showing as well.
The solar eclipse was phenomenal in Omaha
I and many others on the UNMC campus took some time out of the day to witness the solar eclipse. I was lucky enough to find someone with a telescope and got this photo.
Dr. James Checco visits UNMC
UNMC Pharmaceutical Sciences had the honor of hosting James Checco from UNL. At the end of the day, Dr. David Smith joined James and I for a beverage to celebrate the end of and awesome visit.

Edgar’s Poster Session
Edgar, along with the other High School Alliance students celebrated their research with a poster session at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
Lab Lunch a Noli’s
February needed a lab lunch, so we all walked to Noli’s for some pizza.
Toledo visit
It does not really relate to the Ronning lab at UNMC, but I made my first trip to Toledo since moving to UNMC in January 2020. It was great to see so many of my friends and former colleagues in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. It was a phenomenal visit.
Rasangi Graduation day
Rasangi participated both her Ph.D. hooding at the UNMC convocation and walked during her graduation commencement. Congratulations Rasangi. Rasangi ultimately decided to take a post-doctoral research position at the Duke University Human Vaccine Institute working with Priyamvada Acharya. Best of luck in the future.
