Yahani defended her dissertation!
Congratulations to Yahani on defending her work. To celebrate, we had a delicious dinner at Stirnella in the Omaha Blackstone District. Dr. Jayasinghe will be staying in the Ronning Lab to continue her work discovering new drugs to treat TB and MRSA infections.
Thilina defended his dissertation!
Congratulations to Thilina on defending his work. To celebrate, we had a delicious dinner at Stirnella in the Omaha Blackstone District. Dr. Jayasinghe will be moving to Memphis and is starting a new job at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital working with Dr. Richard Lee. Safe travels and good luck, Thilina!
How many scientists does it take to carve a pumpkin?
We decided to enter a pumpkin carving contest on the UNMC campus. There is a reason why I am not showing the final product.

Welcome to the Ronning Lab
Helen Erickson has joined the Ronning Lab. She is a Ph.D. student in the Pharmaceutical Sciences program. We are all looking forward to the next few years working with you.
The Ronning Lab moved!
The Ronning lab started a new stage of its development. In January, the research group moved to the University of Nebraska Medical Center where they will continue the Tuberculosis work and begin new collaborations with new colleagues at UNMC. This is an exciting time for the lab! More updates will be coming as the the lab gets settled from the move.
Ronning Lab Winter Solstifest
The annual Ronning Lab Winter Solstifest was held a day early. We were happily joined by friends and colleagues Ajith, Emanuela, and Mike as well as Megan and Meddie. Great food and fun was had by all.
Gwendal receives his M.S. in Chemistry
Congratulations to Gwendal! He has officially graduated with his M.S. His commencement was this morning at Savage Arena.
Return of Cecile
Cecile decided to visit us, so we had an impromptu lab party. A good excuse for Indian food.
New additions to the Ronning lab
The Ronning lab welcomes Rasangi Pathirage and Brooke Ballis. Rasangi will initially be working on enzymes related to mycobacterial primary metabolism and Brooke will be studying some methyltransferases important for mycobacterial viability.
